First fully electric exceptional transport vehicle in the world
World debut! We’re proud to introduce the first fully electric exceptional transport vehicle in the world. With our own in-house electronic developments and consistent energy management, we’ve achieved the virtually impossible. A vehicle for escorting exceptional transport (exceptional transport escort, ETE) with the utmost standards. The first vehicle of its kind in the world is up to every ETE task in all kinds of weather. Our vehicle has been in daily use since November 2021. We sustainably escort every exceptional transport with the Tesla Model Y, which is charged with solar power and carbon neutral. More information can be found in our media release.

First fully electric exceptional transport vehicle in the world
The two Swiss companies Mamo Verkehrsdienst GmbH and Tagzone Construction & Design GmbH introduce the first electric vehicle in the world for escorting exceptional transport
On the Swiss Autobahn A1. A convoy of three trucks with extra-wide delivery cargo are escorted through the night traffic by the company Mamo Verkehrsdienst GmbH. Suddenly, there’s a radio announcement that an unusually high number of vehicles are driving on the Autobahn up ahead. The Tesla Model Y, with its easily visible change signals, agilely sprints a few hundred metres forward like a Formula 1 safety car and secures the Autobahn entrance. A Tesla? Those are electric vehicles? ‘If you lose power, I’ll just drive farther’: a saying that the company founder, Macro Moriggl, has heard often enough. Using an electric vehicle to escort exceptional transport is unheard of. An escort vehicle has to be agile and can never break down. And obviously, the change signals cannot malfunction. One more reason that a Tesla is out of the question. If its energy management reports a problem, the power will be shut off to everything that’s not absolutely necessary. A disaster scenario in the field of exceptional transport escort (ETE). Mamo Verkehrsdienst GmbH and Tagzone Design & Construction GmbH have solved the problem with an in-house development by Tagzone without voiding the Tesla warranty. The way they did it remains a well-guarded secret. In everyday use, the first ETE vehicle in the world is proving itself beautifully. ‘If you see the vehicle in action, you’ll be a fan’, says the ETE expert Moriggl. The project was preceded by innumerable calculations and tests. When the Tesla Model Y was delivered in Switzerland during August of this year, one of the first vehicles came to Oberentfelden. It went to the headquarters of Mamo Verkehrsdienst GmbH and was then transferred to Sirnach, into the workshop of Tagzone Design & Construction GmbH. The project then became a reality within a month. And the in-house developments proved themselves not only by being authorised for commissioning on the Swiss streets and in the assistance service by the police, but also in practice. The company director said: ‘Those who know we have a Tesla Model Y in use are already asking us to deploy it. Our investigation in the areas of sustainability (read: carbon neutrality) and innovation naturally helps our clients’ reputation as well’. And how likely is it that a transport will lose its escort vehicle due to a dead battery? ‘We have a good grasp on our energy management in both technical and organisational terms. As the largest independent firm in the ETE sector, we reliably secure every transport’, assures Moriggl. And he would know. He’s been in the frontlines since the ETE sector was privatised, and this isn’t the first time he’s gained attention due to innovation. Whether an ETE crane vehicle or an innovation in cooperation with institutions of higher learning, we can continue to expect innovation from ETE specialists Mamo Verkehrsdienst GmbH. As for now, the firm has already distributed its vehicles among three locations, thereby rising to every ETE challenge.

Until 2018, exceptional transport escort (ETE) was the police’s responsibility. Beginning in 2018, the first private companies for exceptional transport escort were permitted in some Cantons. MAMO VERKEHRSDIENST GMBH was one of the first authorised ETE firms and today is the largest independent ETE service provider, with three locations and a uniquely diverse range of ETE vehicles.
Additional info MAMO VERKEHRSDIENST GMBH
MAMO VERKEHRSDIENST GMBH is headquartered in CH-5035 Unterentfelden. The firm specialises in all traffic-related services in both stationary and moving traffic. Ever since private firms were first authorised to escort exceptional transport in Switzerland in 2018, MAMO VERKEHRSDIENST GMBH has been at the forefront. Since its founding, MAMO VERKEHRSDIENST GMBH has gained attention with interesting innovations. So it’s only logical that MAMO VERKEHRSDIENST GMBH, despite all technical and organisational hurdles, is the first company in the world to use a purely electric vehicle to escort exceptional transport.
Additional info TAGZONE CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN
TAGZONE CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN GMBH is headquartered in CH-8370 Sirnach. The company specialises in vehicles of blue-light organisations. They display the blue-light status both technically and by using lettering. A special challenge for using a Tesla as an ETE vehicle was installing the additional electronics without voiding Tesla’s manufacturer warranty in the process. This challenge was also overcome with in-house electronics developments.
